Suka cabut pasang atau ganti procesor di socket LGA. Hati hati socket rusak, masalah akan muncul di kemudian hari.

Satu kasus yang kami dapatkan dari motherboard P67. Di tahun 2014 , chipset motherboard P67 masih bertahan dengan harga yang sama, sekitar 110 dollar. Bahkan beberapa dealer di Indonesia tidak lagi menyediakan motherboard dengan chipset tersebut.

Kerusakan pin procesor dapat disebabkan.
  • Pin tergeser ketika membuka procesor sehingga pin ikut terdorong ketika memasukan procesor.
  • Pin rusak karena kelebihan beban arus ke procesor. Bisa disebabkan overclock atau digunakan untuk beban puncak dari kinerja procesor terlalu lama. Kejadian ini paling sukar ditemukan, karena posisi pin masih pada tempatnya. Tetapi terlihat tanda bekas hangus dengan berubah sedikit kehitaman

Kronologi kerusakan motherboard dari socket kali ini tidak terduga.

  • Procesor dipasang pada tahun 2011 dan berjalan normal. Setelah berjalan 3,5 tahun mendadak muncul error, komputer mendadak blank screen. Masih berjalan normal setelah di reset. Setidaknya masalah yang sama sempat muncul sekitar 5-6 kali.
  • Terakhir mendadak kembali terjadi blank screen dan tidak bisa restart total..
  • Awalnya diduga masalah salah setting BIOS atau Corrupt CMOS dan dipasangkan baterai baru. Motherboard kembali di reset CMOS, tapi tetap tidak mau hidup. 2 hari dicabut baterai CMOS, di jumper, di short, pada LED Debug tetap error Debug 53 dan computer tidak bisa restart
  • Setelah mencari jawaban dengan relasi masalah angka Debug 53, baru diketahui kemungkinan pin socket bermasalah.
  • Setelah CPU di angkat dari socket, memang terlihat satu socket agak miring. Dicoba diperbaiki dengan di dorong ke posisi semula. Angka LED Debug berubah menjadi 55. Angka Debug 55 menunjukan posisi  "No memory installed" atau memory tidak terpasang (walau memory sudah terpasang). Debug 50 sampai 55 terhubung dengan inisial memory, error debug 15-18 terhubung dengan inisial chipset North Bridge atau kontroller di dalam CPU.
  • Dicoba dengan 3 memory modul berbeda, baik di pasang single maupun dual channel. Motherboard tidak mau hidup.
  • Setelah dibuka socket kembali, posisi pin socket LGA sudah berubah lebih miring. Dicoba diperbaiki dengan mengeser ke posisi semula dan dipasang procesor. Lalu di kencangkan, LED Debug muncul ke angka semual error 53. Akhirnya kembali dibuka CPU dari socket, dan terlihat pin procesor sudah tertekuk sampai ujung pin socket sudah patah.
Dibawah ini pesan Error dari LED Debug 53 atau 55. Untuk motherboard tanpa informasi LED, akan lebih sukar menentukan kesalahan.

Kesimpulan masalah socket motherboard dapat mengalami kerusakan.

  • Pin socket motherboard sangat mudah rusak. Bahkan dapat bergeser karena terkena baut, kuku jari atau terdorong oleh pin procesor sendiri. Atau motherboard sering dibuka pasangi procesor dapat menyebabkan posisi pin yang awalnya sudah bermasalah.
  • Bila pin socket terjadi kerusakan karena tergeser, khususnya pada bagian sisi garis di socket. Pin dapat tertekan bahkan patah. Bila terjadi hal tersebut, artinya socket harus diganti. Bila mengetahui masalah pin socket bergeser, coba mengeser secara sangat hati hati.
  • Untuk mengamankan socket procesor agar tidak bergeser. Dalam kondisi tanpa procesor, socket harus dipasang penutup. Dan hindari benturan pin socket karena sangat rentan tergeser.
  • Intinya. Tidak perlu membuka socket procesor dan biarkan posisi procesor tetap disana. Membuka pasang procesor memungkinkan pin socket dapat bergeser kapan saja. Bila hal ini terjadi, kerusakan motherboard akan sulit diketahui kecuali dibawah ke tempat service center. Itupun bila mereka mau memperbaiki dan pastinya ada biaya yang harus kita keluarkan.
  • Bila mengalami masalah gagal memory, tapi kita pernah membuka procesor dari socket. Jangan memutuskan masalah ada di memory, pastikan memory masih bekerja dengan baik dan menguji ke motherboard lain. Karena bisa saja kerusakan bukan di memory DDR tapi di motherboard. Kerusakan pin socket dapat diketahui ketika salah satu slot bermasalah bila dipasang memory modul.
  • Hindari mengeluarkan procesor dari socket LGA untuk hal yang tidak terlalu penting. Seperti membersihkan motherboard, biarkan procesor berada pada tempatnya.
  • Pin dapat terbakar dan tidak bekerja secara normal. Kerusakan motherboard karena overclock atau terkena beban arus terlalu besar dalam periode waktu yang lama. Arus power yang melewati pin terlalu besar menyebabkan pin terbakar (rusak).
  • Kerusakan socket procesor dapat terjadi di seluruh merek motherboard.
